I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Pecho as the new Executive Director, External Affairs for the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital – The Neuro.
As an integral part of The Neuro’s senior leadership, Michael will oversee development and communications activities carried out by External Affairs Office in support of The Neuro’s integrated research, clinical and teaching mission.
Michael comes to The Neuro as a highly respected and accomplished development professional, with international experience in philanthropy. Previously, Mr. Pecho served as President of The Fondation Armand-Frappier. There he implemented a new strategic development plan which significantly increased donations and oversaw the broadening of the scope of the foundation, which in 2012 became the Fondation universitaire Armand-Frappier de l’INRS, the philanthropic arm of INRS University.
Prior to this, Mr. Pecho was Director of Development for the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. He was a key member of the senior management and led the major gifts team in the context of a $100 million capital campaign for the construction of the new MCH on the Glen site. He has also held senior development positions at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) both at the field and headquarters levels, and managed an important portfolio of large, mainly US-based foundations active in the global health sector. A lawyer by training, Mr. Pecho graduated with a LL.B. from the Université de Montréal in 1994.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sandra McPherson and Ms. Karen Mitchell for serving as co-interim directors of the External Affairs Office during the transition period. I am grateful for their leadership and their commitment to The Neuro.
Michael will assume his new role at The Neuro on July 15, 2013. Please join us in welcoming him to our community.
