Dr. Andrea Bernasconi is a neurologist
specialized in the treatment of epilepsy. His research interests are centered
on the use of advanced quantitative MRI techniques such as volumetric MRI, T2
relaxometry, and MR spectroscopy to better understand the cause and
mechanisms responsible for epilepsy. Dr. Bernasconi is interested in the
development and application of computerized image processing techniques such
as voxel-based morphometry, texture analysis and shape analysis to improve
the detection of subtle brain lesions, particularly neuronal migration
disorders, a frequent cause of pharmacologically intractable epilepsy which
are often missed by conventional MRI.
